Description: Exhibition[1975] may not have been the first porn documentary to hit theaters. That distinction probably belongs to the ill-fated Mitchell Brothers with INSIDE MARILYN CHAMBERS. Presumably, Jean-François Davy's motivation was a bit more noble than theirs as he really tried to present his subject as a fully rounded human being who just happened to be working in the sex industry. The result was a huge commercial hit in France where it played regular cinemas packed to capacity, before the 1976 "X"-law relegated it to more specialized venues until 1983 when Minister of Culture Jack Lang removed the X-rating which enabled Davy to re -release the film with added footage, again with great success. Unlike his simultaneously shot LES PORNOCRATES, which took a more general view of the French fuck film industry circa 1975, EXHIBITION is entirely constructed around actress Claudine Beccarie, the first French hardcore superstar who paved the way for the likes of Brigitte Lahaie and Marilyn Jess. Though she didn't appear in that many good ones (the Italian CALDE LABBRA was one of her more interesting vehicles and I rather enjoyed Claude Pierson's good-natured FEMMES IMPUDIQUES which teamed her with good friend Ellen Earl, also prominently displayed in EXHIBITION), which may account for her somewhat diminished fandom status nowadays, she certainly deserves to be remembered for breaking down the barriers. The film consists of three sections that are continuously inter-cut throughout. Davy interviews Claudine on her life and experiences, both inside the sex industry and those that led her into it. He visits her apartment, meets her mother (with a great confrontation concerning the latter's absence while her daughter was in juvenile detention hall for four years) and boyfriend (fellow sex performer Didier Faya, ten years her junior), questions her colleagues, etc.

When a card arrives in her mailbox with a skull and crossbones on it, she knows that the cult has chosen her to be their human sacrifice. When she finds this out, she plays with herself a little bit and thinks back on how she got involved in this mess in the first place. Once the cult comes for her, they decide to come in her and on her as well and she's tied up and eventually an electric dildo is used on her.
This one is rough, with its abundance of chains and restraining devices and a whole lot of whipping and slapping by strange man, naked except for the black masks covering their faces and concealing their identities. The final scene, the inevitable orgy that the entire film is building towards, is decadent and primal in its feel and its tone. The cult members fuck like animals and C. J.'s character knows what's coming up next for her, and she also knows that there's nothing that she can do about it. This one is pretty dark and is about as depressing as any porno I've seen. Look for Sharon Mitchell in this one and director Shaun Costello as well, she's got a small uncredited role in one of the sex scenes.
It’s effective in its grimy atmosphere, the low budget and cheap film stock used adding to this in a big way. The movie is actually pretty creative in how it was shot, some very bizarre camera angles making their way into the production most notably during the finale when Laing is forced to sit on the electric chair with a dildo strapped to it. We see this happen from beneath, very atypical. This one isn’t strong on plot but Laing is excellent in the lead, a true glutton for punishment and a completely sympathetic character.

Description: In "Play Only with Me," we revisit the tried and true theme of the psycho bitch who attempts to ruin a guy's life after a casual one-night stand. Most of you newbies know this gimmick from the yuppie angst classic Fatal Attraction, but the present porno is a hardcore homage to the 1971 Clint Eastwood shocker Play Misty for Me (thus the slightly off-balance title bearing a vague resemblance to Eastwood’s film). A couple enters an “apartment” (decorated in Holiday Inn contemporary). The guy, Richard (an early outing for porn super-trooper Joey Silvera), offers the girl booze and mood music, but she is strangely indifferent. When Richard realizes that the chick, named Kris, is carrying a gun in her handbag, he gets a bit concerned. His worries melt away, however, as soon as they start to screw. Kris, who has a tomboyish quality, turns out to have a bitchin’ ass and a nicely proportioned rack and the pair make it in a few positions to the strains of some kind of hippy bluegrass hoedown on the soundtrack.
